Donating the family gifts
The box sat in our hallway for two days, a constant source of tension. We didn’t want the items in the house, but throwing them away felt wasteful.
We drove to a local charity shop downtown to finally get rid of the burden. Francis carried the heavy box inside while I waited in the car.
We donated the items to clear the physical and emotional space in our apartment. It was the final step in removing their presence from our lives.
